I love creating items that bring joy to people’s lives, whether that is a hand-addressed envelope or a sign for a wall. It is the often-overlooked touches that I really love, like a beautiful envelope mixed in with all the regular mail or wedding signage that truly encompasses a couple’s personality. I am committed to working with my clients to make their dreams become reality, one hand-written letter at a time.
Art is, and has always been, important to me. Growing up, I could generally be found drawing and doodling or finding ways to change up my handwriting (when I wasn’t practicing music and playing soccer). I always looked forward to Christmas rolling around, because my mom would buy me a new pen and let me address all of our cards! (I still do to this day!) In 2016, I stumbled into the world of hand-lettering and calligraphy when I was asked to mimic a specific font for some nametags. Modern calligraphy (both brush and pointed pen) was a completely new and beautiful world to me, and I couldn’t get enough! I ordered my first round of supplies and started the process of self-taught learning. In 2018, my journey as Westward Lettering Co. started and has been exciting to watch it grow!
Originally from the Pacific Northwest— a beautiful area that still holds my heart and most of my family— I now live in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC with my husband and our two kids (and one anti-people cat). We enjoy our travels westward to visit family (which is the inspiration to the Westward Lettering Co. name), as well as exploring closer to home. Our house is filled with giggles, shenanigans, and LOTS OF ART— my kids love to draw and “write fancy” just like mommy. I love the color green, a good early summer thunderstorm, and the salty smell of the ocean.
There are so many ways to make every day special. I look forward to discussing your ideas and how we can make them happen!
